Google Business Profile management, and why it matters more than it used to
Your Google Business Profile is the panel that appears when somebody searches your name, and the listing that decides whether you appear in the map pack for near me searches. It is free, most businesses claim it and then never touch it again, and it is now doing a second job nobody planned for: it is one of the clearest, most machine readable statements of who you are and where you operate, which makes it a strong signal for AI assistants as well as for Google.
What a neglected profile costs you
The map pack takes an enormous share of local clicks, and the businesses in it are frequently not the ones with the best website. They are the ones with a complete profile, consistent details, recent reviews and regular activity.
A profile with the wrong opening hours, a category chosen in a hurry five years ago and no photos since 2019 will lose to a competitor who does very little except keep theirs current.
What we do
Claim, verify and fully complete the profile, including the fields most people leave blank
Get the primary and secondary categories right, which is the single highest leverage setting and the one most often wrong
Write the description and the services and products sections properly, in language people actually search
Fix name, address and phone consistency across the profile, the website and the directories, because a mismatch undermines all of it
Set up and manage the question and answer section, including seeding the questions customers really ask
Regular posts, offers and photographs, because activity is a signal and a dead profile looks like a closed business
Monitor and respond to reviews, and catch the edits and suggestions Google sometimes accepts from strangers
Track calls, direction requests and website clicks so the profile has a number attached to it
The AI angle
An assistant answering who should I use near me needs a source that states your name, your location, your category and your standing in an unambiguous form. A complete, consistent, well reviewed profile is exactly that.
This is one of the cheapest pieces of AI visibility work available and it is almost always the first thing we fix. It costs nothing but attention.
Multi Location
If you operate from several sites we manage the group, keep the categories and service areas distinct so your own branches do not compete with each other, and make sure each one points at the right page on your website rather than all at the homepage.

Ask for a free profile check. We will tell you your category, your consistency problems and your review gap in one short call.
Google Business Profile FAQs
Is Google Business Profile free?
The profile itself is free. What costs money is the time to set it up properly and keep it active, which is the part most businesses do not have.
Why am I not in the map pack?
Usually one of four things: the wrong primary category, inconsistent details across the web, too few recent reviews, or genuine distance from the searcher. The first three are fixable and the audit tells you which applies.
How many reviews do I need?
There is no threshold. Recency and steadiness matter as much as volume. A business gaining two reviews a month usually outperforms one that gathered forty in a single week two years ago.
Someone changed my listing without asking. Can that happen?
Yes. Google accepts suggested edits from the public and sometimes applies them automatically. Monitoring for that is part of what we do, because a wrong closed flag or a changed phone number can cost you weeks of enquiries.
Do posts on the profile actually do anything?
They are not a strong ranking factor on their own, but they keep the profile active, they occupy space in your branded result, and they give an assistant something current to read. Cheap to do, so we do it.
